Millie Thrasher’s ultimate goal is to make the world dance. Anyone who has met the talented singer will know this isn’t as bold a claim as it might sound. Equal parts ambition and enthusiasm, this 16-year-old from Birmingham, Alabama has what it takes to make it to the very top of the pop world.
Thrasher’s love of performing began when she was just four. As a competitive cheerleader for ACE All-stars she won several national championships. During this time she also discovered music, firstly through musical theatre and then on her car journeys to school, listening to John Mayer on her dad’s stereo. Hearing the way Mayer crafted his songs, and discussing what the lyrics might mean with her father, instilled in Thrasher a lifelong passion for creating and performing her own music.
This passion led her to Los Angeles and The X Factor. Cast in girl group Sweet Suspense, Millie and her band mates made the live shows and finished inside the top twelve. After the show ended there were other highlights for the band; such as performing at LA Live, The Radio Disney Music Awards pre-show and selling out NYC’s Gramercy Theatre and The Roxy in Los Angeles. However, the end of the group has allowed Thrasher to return to her solo career and begin creating the type of gritty urban pop she has always wanted to make.
Under the production and artist development of Culture Republic, Thrasher has been busy working on her new material. These deep-grooved and urban-tinged songs might come as a surprise, hinting at her love of Aaliyah, Janet Jackson and Justin Timberlake. This is music that will get you on the dance floor. It is also the first chance for Thrasher to truly express herself and as she says, “My process is completely raw and my music is 100% about how I feel. I put everything I have into each song and if you listen to my music you can hear the very best version of who I am.”
